Event Details

A Letter from Gamma Chapter Vice President Ryan Clancy

Greetings to all of my fellow Delts. I am delighted to share the details and extend an invitation to our 2023 fraternity formal on the Madam Carroll. It has been an intensive year of fraternal formalities and goal chasing for us in the active chapter. To commemorate our progress and accomplishments, we would like to celebrate our brotherhood and band together once again to have a memorable night surrounded by brothers old and new.

We have been working very diligently to build a future fit for Delta Gamma Iota. With this event, we would like to continue to strengthen our bonds of brotherhood and display our accomplishments throughout the past year. This formal will follow a similar structure to last year’s event, working to improve and introduce a more detailed and organized event structure.

Make sure you save the date for Saturday, April 22nd. We are aiming to attain a strong attendance rate, with invites inclusive of all of our chapters as well as all alumni and active brothers. Please plan to join us, with or without a date, on The Madam Carroll for a night full of food, celebration, brotherhood and unforgettable memories. All of the details for the event will be listed below. Should you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me directly: 219-728-7717.

About the Venue

At 135 feet long and weighing in at 300 tons, the Madam Carroll is the largest registered boat in the state of Indiana. The vessel has an operational capacity of 500 guests and a license to party. She was launched on Lake Freeman in Monticello, Indiana in August of 1976. The vessel was purchased in 2019 by Gamma Alumni Chris Peters and Chris Lehe who have transformed the business into a year-round operation and live music destination.

Your ticket is inclusive of this excursion, entertainment, and includes your dinner. The Madam Carroll has a full service bar, come thirsty. This event was made financially possible through the generous donations of many of our alumni. Any additional proceeds generated from this event will go directly to the active chapter and assist them in hitting the ground running for a successful next semester.

Regarding Inclement Weather:

The Madam Carroll cruises rain or shine. However, it is the sole discretion of this vessels captain and ownership to determine if inclement weather could create hazardous conditions in which case the ship will remain at dock and this event will continue as scheduled.

Regarding Lake Levels:

After nearly 100 years of keeping Lake Freeman and Lake Schafer level, the US Fish and Wildlife Department intervened and mandated that the water flow leaving the Oakdale Dam be maintained to a specific cubic foot per second to protect an endangered mussel species below the dam on the river. In times of drought, the water levels in Lake Freeman are dropped to maintain constant river flows below the dam. In this event, it becomes unsafe for the vessel to cruise. If this is the case, the ship will remain at dock and this event will continue as scheduled. You can learn more about this erroneous calculation on behalf of the US Fish and Wildlife Department and how you can help the Madam Carroll continue her operation in this article.
