Event Details
On May 18th the White County Historical Society will hold their annual meeting on the Madam Carroll. Kean MacOwan, president of the organization, will be bringing the history of Rock and Roll to Lake Freeman. Don’t worry… there won’t be a lot speeches. Three minutes tops. MacOwan is bringing the counter culture music venue of the late 60’s. This music and the throngs of young people that followed it changed the perception of our world.
Center stage of the 60’s cultural-revolution is the baby boomer’s music complete with electric guitar ‘hot licks’, drum beats that make your chest pound and bass rhythms that stir the soul. The evening will begin with songs from groups like Cream, Hendrix , Grand Funk, or perhaps a little Zepplin, Stones or a little ‘Old Man’ from Neil Young. This is where it started! This musical journey takes in the whole gambit from yesterday’s hits to today’s hard rock sounds. It will be an electric night!
So what band does one book to deliver this sound? Jason Wells Band of course. Jason will be talking a little bit about the artists. With the band will be 17 year old Gibson Wells. This young man is amazing on lead guitar and can match the talent of his father Jason. Beg them to do their dueling guitar pieces.
Be prepared…this will be loud, inspiring and bring back personal memories of the distant past. Dress for the period. Bell bottoms, head bands, denim, peace symbols and tie died items are perfect! Or come as you are.
